- Monday September 1, at 10:30am – James Gardens and The Old Mill, Hike and Picnic Meet at the Spadina subway station, ground level, east side, beside the turnstile at 10:30. Then we'll take the subway and bus to the park. At the park we can walk through the gardens, play frisbee or soccer, and have lunch (bring something to eat). Then we can hike down the Humber River to the Old Mill. This is the ruins of a mill built in the 1800's. We should be done by 4 pm. contact Max Rideout 416-768-7915
- Saturday September 6, 4 - 6pm – The Amazing Race followed by some food. A fun filled puzzle-solving race finding your way around the UofT for the first time! Meet outside the International Student Center (ISC), 33 St. George Street. Just come if you can.
- Tuesday September 9, and every Tuesday, Robarts Library 2nd floor south lobby. Now cancelled- if you'd like to meet up for conversation contact us. Bring your questions about English or Canadian culture to discuss with Max. Stay for 10 minutes or as long as you like.
- Friday September 12, 6 pm – Potluck Dinner at Max and Mei Rideout’s. Contact Max at 416-768-7915 for details
- Saturday September 13, 3-5 pm – Badminton. Bring your racket or borrow one of ours. Meet at the Chinese Presbyterian Church, 177 Beverley Street, 2 blocks south of College Street enter through the gym entrance on Baldwin Street (see map here or below)
- September 19, and every Friday 5.30 – 7.30pm READ.IT – The Bible and the Christian faith on Friday Evenings: we will read, examine, ask, discuss, investigate and think our way through John using critical thinking skills. We are ESL friendly. Meet third floor of the Multi-Faith Centre, in the Knoffler Institute Building on Bancroft Avenue next to Earth Sciences email Tony Lai for a map and flyer or see the map here or below.
- Saturday September 27, 11am – 4 pm – Bike Ride to Edwards Gardens up the Don Valley trail. If you own a bike, meet at the International Student Center (ISC), 33 St. George Street. - Saturday October 4, 7-10 pm - La Nuite Blanche, a citywide arts festival for one sleepless night, Toronto will once again be transformed by artists as Scotiabank Nuit Blanche
With only 12 hours to see 155 installations across the city, we'll visit downtown installations for 3 hours - general info at www.scotiabanknuitblanche.ca. - Monday October 13 – Thanksgiving Lunch – eating turkey and learning about thanksgiving. Get in touch with us for further details.
- Saturday October 18, 10.30am – 5 pm – Outing to Crawford Lake 1 hour out of Toronto. A beautiful location to see the Canadian countryside, Fall colours, a rare meromictic lake, a 15th century reconstructed Iroquoian Village and perhaps even turkey vultures. Book a place on this outing by emailing us.
