Happy New Year

Not only Happy New Year but happy new decade. We've completed the first decade in the twenty first century. What have we planned? Well to try and keep this site more up-to-date. Last year a lot of activities didn't make it onto this web page so this year contact us because we have an email list as well.

Saturday January 16, 3 pm - Badminton and Table Tennis.

Meet at the Chinese Presbyterian Church, 177 Beverley Street, 2 blocks south of College Street and enter through the gym entrance on Baldwin Street. Beverley Street is the continuation of St. George St. when it goes south of College. Bring your own racquet or use one of ours.

Important – you must wear non-marking athletic shoes. We don’t want to leave black marks on the gym floor.

Saturday January 23, 6pm, - Potluck Dinner at Max and Mei Rideout’s

There’s a potluck party for international students at the home of Max and Mei Rideout. This is a good opportunity to meet some other international students and some native Canadians too.

contact us for further info leave a comment or email or phone.

A potluck is a party to which each guest brings some food to be shared. It is called “pot” because food is often brought in pots. It is called “luck” because if you are unlucky, everyone will bring the same thing and the meal will be very boring. But if you are very lucky everyone will bring something delicious and you will have a great meal! You could bring chips, drinks (non-alcoholic), desert, some fruit, appetizer or a main course.

Saturday January 30, 3pm, - Escape from Winter Party combined with International Christmas Reunion At Willowdale Baptist Church

This is now the middle of winter and everyone is starting to get tired of the cold. It’s time to get together with old friends or meet some new ones and just have fun together. We’ll meet for games, activities, sports(?) and a potluck dinner (so please bring some food). This is a combined event. Everyone who went to the International Christmas Camp is invited and they will be sharing their experiences. This will bring international students from different corners of the city and province.

Location - Willowdale Baptist Church, 15 Olive Avenue, 1 block south of the Finch subway, on the east side of Yonge. Use the door facing the parking lot.

Saturday February 6, - Hike at Terracotta Conservation Area

http://www.creditvalleycons.com/recandleisure/terracotta.htm

We’re still in the middle of winter. It’s really important to get out of the city. To liberate the mind from books, libraries, labs and experiments and just enjoy the peace of the created world. We’ll be traveling by car, way past the airport to the north and west – about a one hour drive. Terracotta is on the Niagara Escarpment (not Niagara Falls). We’ll go for a hike together through the woods and then return to the city for a meal together. There will be a fee charged for transportation and food and you’ll have to reserve a spot. More details to follow.
